Caryn Hartman

Caryn Hartman got her BA in Anthropology and Religious Studies from the University of Colorado. After studying abroad in India, Nepal, and Tibet, she pursued her interest in Tibet. She got her MA from the University of Virginia in History of Religion with a focus on Tibet. She has taught in Denver Public Schools for ten years. She is excited to combine her passion for Tibetan culture with her love of children's stories to create an awareness of Tibet's plight. Her first book, Dorje the Yak, won the 2019 Nautilus Book Award for Best Children's Fiction Book. Her second book, Dekyi's Dream, is a spin off of Dorje the Yak. Her third book, Little Mountain, is about learning self-love.
Caryn lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, two boys, playful pup and snuggly cat. She loves to travel, go on long road trips, and will jump at any chance to be surrounded by mountains.
