Russell E. Gehrlein
Russell E. Gehrlein (Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, Retired) is a Christian, husband, father, grandfather, blogger, and author of "Immanuel Labor - God's Presence in our Profession: A Biblical, Theological, and Practical Approach to the Doctrine of Work”, published by WestBow Press in February 2018. He is an ordinary man who is passionate about helping other ordinary people experience God’s presence and integrate their Christian faith at work.

Russ received a B.S. in mathematics from Colorado State University in 1980 and a M.A. in biblical studies from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in 2015. God has given him a unique career journey as a junior/high school math and science teacher, youth pastor, and in the military. He is a retired Army Master Sergeant with twenty years’ active duty. Russ has worked as a Department of the Army civilian at Fort Leonard Wood for the past 13 years.

Although this is his first book, he has been a published author for many years. Russ has written a dozen articles on a variety of military topics that were published in the NCO Journal, Army Chemical Review, and for the Center for Army Lessons Learned.

Since 2015, Russ has maintained an active blog, “Reflections on Theological Topics of Interest” (www.regehrlein.wordpress.com), where he has written and posted over 170 articles on a variety of theology of work topics. Eighty of these articles have been published 160 times on numerous Christian organization’s blogs or websites, including: Center for Faith & Work at LeTourneau University, Institute for Faith, Work & Economics, Coram Deo, Nashville Institute for Faith + Work, Made to Flourish, 4Word Women, and The Gospel Coalition.

Russ has also been a featured guest on several podcasts: The Author Inside You (July 2019), The Authors Show (August 2019), Making it Work (January 2021), and Family Radio (January 2021).
