Psalm Hymns: Volume Five, Psalms 107-150

Paperback |English |1951084500 | 9781951084509
Overview

In this last volume of the Psalm Hymns series, you are presented with a method for singing book V of the Biblical Psalms. Perhaps your favorite psalm is included.

There are some sticky psalms, like Psalm 119- King David's love poem to God's law. You can ask yourself while singing why the law is important to a King. Psalm 137 is full of bile and bitterness as written by the survivors of the desolation of Jerusalem, but there are also the most lyrical and beautiful of praises for the rule of God found in the Psalms of Ascent. These are also known as Psalms of Pilgrimage, perfect for tour groups' use in Israel.

Psalm 107 and Psalm 136 extol the eternal character of God's command together with His loving-kindness and faithfulness to all who take refuge in Him.

Psalm 139 is the articulate, lyrical description of God knitting the psalmist's body together in secret, and the psalm continues in wonder while describing how the Creator watches over His creation and cares for an individual no matter where he wanders or she goes, Psalm 139 is the psalmist's ode to the secret formation of his or her body, and says a soul cannot hide from its Creator..

The Celebration Psalms finish the collection of Psalms as a grand finale.

Editorial Reviews

Mike Flack, Owner/Operator of LaunchPad Studios and producer of YWAM's School of Worship

"What an amazing family resource and performance tool! This book can be used personally or corporately as a new collection of songs for worship, a small group study, or even a modern day hymnal."

Steven D. Mathewson, Senior Pastor of CrossLife Church, Libertyville, Illinois; Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon; author of The Art of Preaching Old Testament Narrative

Author L. L. Larkins has provided a fantastic resource for anyone who loves the book of Psalms. In Psalm Hymns, she has paraphrased the lyrics of the 150 psalms so they can be sung to familiar hymn tunes. This volume can be used as a devotional companion for reading the book of Psalms. Pastors and teachers can also use the Psalm-Hymns created by Larkins to introduce or conclude their sermons or lessons from the book of Psalms. This volume is also a great resource for small group Bible studies. However you use it, Psalm Hymns will take you deeper into the message of the psalms and help you express your praise and lament to God.
