Santa Dies Once Again

Paperback |English |1523436816 | 9781523436811
Overview
Santa Dies Once Again is the first book in the series, Strongbow: A Warriors Journey Through Hell And Back. The Sixties. A decade that changed the nation. Sex, booze, music, and mind-altering drugs. But for 14-year old Mitch, life isn't all about peace and love. Torn between two worlds, his internal battle rages. The traditions of his Sioux background and the family pressure to keep his soul pure battle against the temptations of drugs, girls, and parties. As an army brat, the move from base to base makes life one big brawl. And with an Aboriginal father and German mother, being called a "half-breed" at school leads to one blackout rage after another. But defending himself is Mitch's guilty pleasure. Knockouts, suspensions, and more time to be bad. The Vietnam War and its political unrest only add to Mitch's teenage angst. With a father fighting overseas, a single mother struggling to survive, an admired older brother deep into all the local bikers have to offer, and an unthinkable family secret that could tear their lives apart, Mitch quickly feels his worlds collide. Hunt Camp Scene, 1962 I had this nightmarish dream that I was hunting alongside not only my dad, but Rhonda Ryan's deceased dad, Steve. All three of us were wearing military combats and carrying M-1 rifles. We weren't in a forest but in an old abandoned town, like a ghost town in the old west. We heard all these blood curdling screams. We couldn't figure out where they were coming from, or who was making the shrill sounds. We all walked towards the center of the town. A thin layer of fog had crept its way in. A raven came out of nowhere and dove at our heads, all the while cawing, "You're gonna die! You're gonna die!" Dad looked at me and barked out, "Kill that messenger, Private Strongbow!" I pointed my rifle at the bird and pulled the trigger. The weapon didn't fire. It just made a clicking noise. I pulled back the bolt to reload the chamber. The bullet magazine fell out from my weapon. This seemed to infuriate dad even more. "I gave you a direct order, soldier. Shoot that messenger before he gives away our position!" Once again, I pointed towards the bird and squeezed the trigger with everything I had. Click! Dad now got into my face and started to scream at me, all the while spraying my face with spittle. "Are you a killer or a pussy, soldier? Kill that messenger now! I didn't raise you to fail, soldier. Look at Ryan He failed and he's dead. Do you want to die, just like him?" Once again, I raised my weapon but it had somehow turned into a broom, the same broom I had just used to sweep out the longhouse. I instinctively raised the broom to whack the bird out of the sky. Dad said, "It's too late soldier. Drop your weapon! They are among us." I looked at dad in disbelief. He was now fixated on several humanoids that were approaching us. Their faces were obscured; all that was visible were the clothes they were wearing. There was a Japanese WWII soldier, a WWII Storm Trooper, and a Mexican bandit. The strangest one of all though, was the girl from that fifties drive-in diner. She roller skated around doing figure eight patterns. The tray she carried was full of weapons instead of food. Just like the raven, she cawed out, "You're gonna die!" I looked at dad and asked, "Now what?" With a smirk on his face, dad answered, "You know how this ends, Mitchell. You have always known." This book ends on January 1, 1967. And the second book called "Summer of Love, Fall of Hate" begins. Leary said, Turn on, tune in, drop out. Well, Mitch did all of those that year. Other books in this series to be released are: A Jungle Is Still A Jungle, Chasing Dragons and Slaying Demons, Inside Looking Out, Freedom, Cops, Wops and a Fool's Betrayal, The Mule, The Rat, The Executioner, When Irish Eyes Aren't Smiling, Deep Waters, Full Circle, More books to come.
