Summiting Spiritual Mountains

Paperback |English |1736268708 | 9781736268704
Overview

Often in His Word, we find a significant spiritual event, spiritual parable or spiritual truth when one of His mountains is mentioned. Considered by many to be the deadliest mountain in Colorado, there have been nearly 70 deaths on Colorado's Longs Peak mountain. Unbeknownst to me, God had been planning for my summit of Longs Peak decades before it was even in my thoughts. Join me, a 61 year old who had never before attempted to summit a mountain, in climbing to the summit of Longs Peak.

"Summiting Spiritual Mountains" takes you on a journey into the amazing parallels that exist when comparing the physical, mental, and emotional elements of ascending one of His most beautiful creations to the struggles, setbacks and victories encountered while ascending the spiritual mountains God allows and sometimes places in our Living Faith. Discover with me how to not only

navigate, but enjoy ascending some of the spiritual mountains in your life.

"For decades following my first view of Longs Peak in 1991, I would enjoy small hiking excursions on the mountain below altitudes of 11,500

feet. Twenty-seven years after first beholding this beautiful, massive rock hovering over and miniaturizing most everything in its shadow, everything

changed. The 14,259 foot summit seem to be calling out to me. Twenty-seven years before my summit of Longs Peak, a little baby girl was born. Her name, Amanda. The year Amanda was born, I made my first mountain hike through the shadows of Longs Peak. Twenty-seven years later, Amanda would lead me to the summit. Does it not seem odd that I have never had the least bit of interest, or even a passing thought of climbing to the summit during the previous 27 years? Was God preparing Amanda; thus, sheltering my mind from the thought of climbing?"

Editorial Reviews

"You will find this book to be an insightful and enjoyable read. Robin is a transparent writer who has the ability to keep the reader engaged with his wit, as well as his spiritual insight.

Although I am not a climber myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I easily connect with a subject that I, myself, am not familiar with personally. This is a credit to the author and his ability to paint you a vivid picture, allowing you to take the journey with him as he ascends the mountain physically, as well as spiritually. So, pour a cup of coffee, find your favorite spot, and enjoy the climb!"

His first book, Tender Soil - A Biblical Perspective of the Christian Conversation, leads us to a deeper understanding of the importance of our thoughts, heart and mind being the soil that produces our words and actions. Robin and his wife, Debbie, live in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where they serve and worship at Central Baptist Church. Robin enjoys hiking and Debbie enjoys antiquing in the Rockies of Colorado.
