Overview

As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2nd Corinthians 3:2 - "Ye are our epistles written in our hearts, known and read of all men," .....so is The Book of Elijah A. Stone as told by Peter Simonson..... ......a declaration of a man's life which began as a small child seeking the face of his Creator. This is the story, the epistle, of such a man. It is the story of Elijah's lifelong battle with mental illness. Elijah longed to pay the debt in service to God that he believed God required of him for having bestowed life upon him. Elijah, in his quest to accomplish this payment to God, becomes involved with a Christian cult.... .....and comes to realize more completely the foreboding lyrics of a song, ..... .......telling Elijah possibly the truth about his concerns about the cult...... .....which lyrics counsel Elijah, that, concerning this 'cult'..... .....he, Elijah, 'could check out anytime he liked, but he could never leave.' Will Elijah overcome his mental illness? Will he ever be entirely free in his mind & heart from those in the Christian cult? Would he ever realize the true calling of his purpose before God ? He would find that, in order to ever serve God, ... .....he would first have to realize God as his Father, and himself, a son of the Father, ..... .....together with all those, who also are the children of God.

Peter Simonson is the pen name of the author of "The Book of Elijah A. Stone as told by Peter Simonson." Like the protagonist of his book, the author once suffered from mental illness. His illness vexed him throughout his formative years, becoming more prominent and evidenced throughout his teen years and into young adulthood and throughout the later years of his life. He had been hospitalized for his mental illnesses throughout his late teens and throughout the early and mid life years of his adulthood. Various doctors tried to help the author throughout his bouts with his mental illness with the introduction of different medications in order to attempt to stabilize his mental illness' effects upon the author. The medicines usually caused some kinds of disturbing side effects of one kind or another to the author and he became very wary of their introduction into his system. However, experimentation by the doctors with certain medications finally proved successful & beneficial for the author in the very late 1980's. The author's medication was not a cure for his mental illness even as insulin does not cure diabetes. However, since the introduction of the best medication found for the author's condition in the very late 1980's, the author has never once been hospitalized for flare ups and bouts with his mental illness. His medication helped the author to better manage & control certain aspects of his mental illness. He has continued to grow stronger each day ever since the late 1980's to be as stable and as responsible as he can possibly be..... .....and to make direct efforts to socialize more as he is able without any pressure or force from anyone outside of himself. He does very much love people. It should be noted that the author's book is not an autobiography..... ........and the book's protagonist is not in any way to be construed as the actual true experiences or actions, thoughts, or lifestyle of the author, himself.... .....This is a work of 'fiction, '........ .....the book attempts to bring collectively, a collage of many known similar troubling experiences..... .....experiences unfortunately for many lives... which involved oppressive and abusive treatment, whether at the hands of family, medicine, religion, etc..... .....the 'hope' is that, in spite any abuse, or any sufferings.... ......all can be successfully overcome to the point of actual blossoming, fruitful, scar-free redeemed lives of great joy !!!
