Dr. David K. Naugle is widely regarded as a leading thinker in the area of Christian worldview formation. As Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at Dallas Baptist University, he has drawn accolades and admiration. This collection in his honor demonstrates that intellectual pursuits are inherently spiritual, that no area of life is separate from the lordship of Christ, and that true Christian faith is in fact the deep fulfillment of the human experience. On topics ranging from linguistics to gardening and everything in between, these essays represent the depth and breadth of the idea that all goodness is God's goodness, all truth is God's truth, and all beauty is God's beauty.

Editorial Reviews

""Dr. Naugle has provided one of the greatest convergences of scholarship, love of students, and care for culture. This volume, a collection of voices from his beloved community, brings enduring light to his influence in all of our lives, and an invitation toward the great Banquet to come."" --Makoto Fujimura, artist and author of Art+Faith: A Theology of Making ""I call Dr. Naugle both friend and guide. He has so faithfully mined the depths of what a Christocentric worldview holds. But more than that, he's one of the good guys. Today, more than ever, this counts for nearly everything. Give me one man of character like Dr. Naugle over a thousand deep thinkers. Why? With Davey, you don't have to choose. He has depth of scholarship and an abiding love for God, his people, and his planet. That's the package right there."" --Charlie Peacock, Grammy-winning music producer and author of New Way to Be Human ""A fascinating potpourri of essays that takes up everything from philosophy to pop culture, from aesthetics to apologetics without ever straying too far from the classroom. A fine tribute to the worldview thinking and pedagogical commitments of David Naugle."" --Louis Markos, author of Restoring Beauty: The Good, the True, and the Beautiful in the Writings of C. S. Lewis ""The Good, the True, the Beautiful is a moving tribute to the legacy of Dallas Baptist University Distinguished University Professor, Dr. David Naugle. Dr. Naugle has been not only a stellar professor but also a beloved mentor and friend to students and colleagues. This book, which includes essays by a gallery of lives he has touched, wonderfully captures David's enduring and scholarly commitment to upholding a Christian worldview that develops our minds, engages God's truth in the arts and sciences, and transforms our moral lives to glorify our Creator and Lord."" --Gary Cook, Chancellor and former President, Dallas Baptist University ""In The Good, the True, the Beautiful, colleagues, friends, and former students have gathered to express profound gratitude and to provide a truly fitting and worthy tribute to Professor David K. Naugle for his years of investment in so many lives. In honor of Naugle's effective and transformational teaching as well as his significant scholarly publications, this volume beautifully reflects and echoes Naugle's thoughtful articulation of the importance of Christian worldview thinking, living, and engagement. The astute and insightful chapters range from the thought of C. S. Lewis, William Wilberforce, Philip Melanchthon, Augustine, and Thomas Aquinas to literature, art, movies, philosophy, apologetics, and more. The editors are to be commended for bringing together such an outstanding group of contributors. I count it a privilege to recommend this fine book."" --David S. Dockery, President, International Alliance for Christian Education, and Distinguished Professor of Theology, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary ""While no publication can ever do justice to the impact of the greatest communicator and educator I have ever known, this tribute to Dr. David Naugle can inspire readers to climb to spiritual higher ground. I have seen and personally experienced his eternal impact on countless lives which have been shaped by the biblical mandate to be committed stewards and caretakers of our world."" --Gail Linam, Academic Dean and former Provost, Dallas Baptist University
