Edwina Portelle Romero
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Pat Romero, aka Edwina Portelle Romero, has been making up stories since the days when she took care of her younger siblings. After attending college in California and Virginia during the 1960s-70s, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in English, from The University of New Mexico. In addition to teaching writing, Romero published fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and academic scholarship. Her first book, Footlights in the Foothills, Amateur Theatre of Las Vegas and Fort Union, New Mexico, 1871-1899, relates stories of amateur theatrical and musical companies and the people who formed them. Her second book, Cowboys Reunions of Las Vegas New Mexico, an illustrated history of the Cowboys' Reunion events, 1915-1931; 1939-1967, is available now from The History Press.
