Justin Wells
Justin was born and grew up in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. As a highschooler he became interested in fine art and nature photography. Upon leaving home, his insatiable curiosity led to his inadvertently securing an interdisciplinary education. In undergrad he majored in communications with a film and television emphasis. At California State University Long Beach he secured an MA in Philosophy with an emphasis on existentialism. At Fuller Theological Seminary he pursued an MA in Theology and Art. Finally at Art Center College of Design he received an MFA in Film and Directing with an emphasis on documentary filmmaking.

His first book, "How to Film Truth" is part of the monograph series put out by the Reel Spirituality Institute in Pasadena, CA, and is about the history of nonfiction film, a guide for those interested in what makes documentary films meaningful, powerful, and psychologically, emotionally and spiritually healing as works of communal art, tapping into deeply human ritualistic functions such as confession, testimony, lament, celebration and the poetic.

He lives in South Pasadena, CA where he works on movies an television shows as a camera technician, is a guest film critic for Reel Spirituality, and produces and directs his own micro budget, personal documentary films.
