Martha Ashleigh
Martha Ashleigh, a native Californian, lives on Catalina Island with her husband and golden retriever. A decade ago, she retired from a lifetime of teaching music. Before retirement, she wrote poetry, music, songs and hymns, short stories, and an occasional article for the music journals and Catholic publications. Several years ago, she and Keith Snell co-authored a successful series of music theory workbooks (Fundamentals of Piano Theory) which continue to sell very well year after year. Since retirement, she has written several musical works including a Mass setting and a collection of art songs; in addition, she has completed several longer works of fiction. At first, the longer stories were written primarily to entertain and guide her grandchildren, but each book seems to strike a chord with young readers in general. By integrating her personal beliefs and fundamental values into stories, she believes her messages of grace, forgiveness and understanding will resonate with readers of all ages.
